Am I obligated to pay Signed a 2 year lease. At move in landlord didn't have the time to walk me through home to check off condition of home. Home was painted different colors at time. At move out, hired cleaners, and carpet cleaning crew to clean the home before I turned keys in. Landlord did not walk the home with me again at end of lease. Lated I have received a letter thanking me for being a great tennant paid on time for 24 months but was given a bill for 1700 for landlord painting the place for the next tennant

I have a similar experience where I documented with the realtor that I wanted to have the walls painted in the stairwell since they were marked up by furniture being carried up/down from previous tenant but the landlord felt that the walls didn't need to be retouched. I am now moving out and he wants to charge me for the service to re-paint these same walls and fill small nail holes from hanging photos. Isn't this part of normal wear and tear and since the walls were already in need of pint when I moved in, am I responsible for the fee to re-paint them now (they aren't any worse than when I moved in.
