The short answer would be 'yes'. But it depends on how much water and whether the water has come into contact with the actual workings of the TV.
The important thing is to dry it out thoroughly before even trying to plug it back in. Good luck!

Yes, especially if it gets inside the TV set. Water can damage any electrical system if it reaches the electrical components. Just cleaning the screen or plastic with a damp cloth won't normally do any harm though, just be sure it isn't dripping wet.

It depends on the amount of water which gets into the TV and where it ends up. If the water gets on the PCBs, it may allow high voltage to track onto sensitive components and damage them.
A wet device should be unplugged and allowed to drain first and if possible the case opened to inspect for any remaining water lodged inside. It is probably best then to leave it for a couple of days to dry.

I will sometimes wash my TV screen with a damp cloth, and it's perfectly fine. But I know from experience that tipping over a vase of flowers filled with water will kill a TV set in short order. The water ran into the back of the TV set and made scary crackling noises as it expired. It was not a pretty picture (so to speak)!

If it's salt water, your tv is ruined for sure, but if it was fresh or tap water, let it dry in a dry place up to a week. No harm in talking with a local repair store about it either, for their advice.

A TV is made up of multiple electrical components, most of which are not housed in a waterproof casing. Therefor, any contact with water is likely to damage, short out, or destroy most electrical components on a TV.

However, the water would have to get inside of the TV casing in order to cause any damage. The most common way for this to happen is through the slats (or openings) on the casings back which allows airflow to cool the TV while operating. If you just get water on the TV casing (screen/top/sides) then little harm will occur because no water came in contact with the electrical aspects of the TV.

Hope this helps.

That would depend on where the water is

if it is on the front of it then maybe not HOWEVER if the water dips into the inside of the tv where all the electric stuff is then yes it will damage the tv
