The best way to clean a wool rug is to have it done by a professional. Once wool is cleaned it must be returned to a neutral ph. If not, it will brown. The cleaners used in home and rental machines have a ph on the alkaline side and if an acid is not used to reverse this, your rug will " brown out ".
